AAA Wholesalers

We want to take another moment to honor yet another everyday hero: AAA Wholesalers. AAA Wholesalers deserves our thanks for their help during Ramadan in 2020. Due to the impact of Covid-19, we at the Yemeni American Merchants Association (YAMA) reached out to AAA Wholesalers with hopes of attaining some dates to provide our Muslim community members with. They were more than generous, providing us with 30 boxes of dates to give to our community so that they may their break fast with dates during the holy month! Not only that, but during the pandemic, AAA Wholesalers continued to provide lines of credit to small business owners, allowing them to survive and thrive during this last tough year. What awesome community business leaders! We at YAMA could not be more grateful to have a business like AAA Wholesalers in our community! Thank you for all your charity!

To support the, visit any of their locations in New York City or online on Facebook! In Solidarity, YAMA

Balady

We at the YAMA want to take a moment again to honor an everyday hero in our community: Balady.
During the month of Ramadan in 2020, one business saw the work YAMA was doing for the community, with our food pantry and safety kits, among other services, and decided that they too wanted to aid people in need during those tough times. That business? Balady.
They donated $3000 worth of dry and canned goods to the YAMA food pantry, along with Balady store gift cards for people to use on groceries. That donation helped so many people, so we are truly appreciative of it! We could not be more grateful for Balady’s charity, thank them for their aid, and commend them for being community individuals that care.

To support them, visit their location in Brooklyn or online at www.baladymarket.com. In Solidarity, YAMA

Key Food

We want to take a moment to honor one of our everyday heroes, Key Food.
We would like to thank Key Food for their kindness and aid during the 2020 pandemic. The supermarket provided nearly $6000 worth of rice, canned vegetables, canned fruits, flour, and cooking oil to YAMA’s food pantry. By donating goods to the pantry, we were able to feed more families in the community. So, thank you Key Food for your generosity and continued support of YAMA initiatives!

Yemen Café

In the early parts of the pandemic, you could find the Yemen Café cooking meals for first responders and hospitals in Brooklyn. For months, the Café provided over 70,000 meals, eventually expanding their operation to Manhattan, and sending out meals to police precincts and firemen as well.
The generosity of the families who own the two Brooklyn locations of the Yemen Café does not stop there though as one family member volunteered with us at YAMA, helping with our Bodega Safety Kits and distributing items from our food pantry. The Yemen Café is always available, always ready, and always willing to help, and we thank them for that.

SABA LIVE POULTRY

When we were in need, they answered our call. In fact, Saba Live Poultry went the extra mile. During 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, when YAMA needed more food for the food pantry and wished to provide people with eggs for the month of Ramadan, we reached out to Saba Live Poultry to see if they could donate. Well, they could, and they went above and beyond our request. Instead of donating dozens of eggs alone, Saba Live Poultry provided individual 3lb chickens, fresh, as well. For a period of 4 months, they donated to the food pantry, providing over 60,000 chickens and 100,000 cartons of eggs. Saba Live Poultry’s generosity does not stop at their donations to the community but continues onto the individual level as well. If there was a family in need, the business would provide them with food from the store with no charge to them, understanding that many people were in a tough spot and still had families to feed. Saba Live Poultry is a model business in the community, and we thank them for their kindness and generosity in these times of need.
